The book begins with images of New Orleans, Louisiana, and continues westward to California, with 36 of the 49 photographs depicting California landmarks. The photographs are printed onto the album pages and are accompanied by handwritten captions identifying the landmark or view. This album may have been owned by C.W. Hornick, whose name is engraved on the album's front cover.
