[Proclamation from the United States Marine Corps to the people of Tianjin, China, July 22, 1900]

Poster of instructions to the people of Tianjin ("Tientsin"), issued "by order of the Guard of American Troops in the South East Quarter, July 22, 1900." The Guard was under the command of L. W. T. Waller, Major of the U.S.M.C. The order lists the seven rules of conduct required of the residents of the US section of the foreign settlement of Tientsin (Tianjin). In Chinese with English translation. The Chinese text is highlighted in red. The order was issued shortly after the Battle of Tianjin on July 22, 1900.
