One drawing book entitled École de Dessin, Petit Cours Élémentaire et Progressif, published by Henry & Yves, Paris, ca. 1875? "No. 555" is stamped in red ink on the bottom of the front cover. This French drawing book is comprised of four unnumbered lithograph plates. The front cover features a leafy, decorative frame in which there are vignettes of artists at work in each corner. The interior images are each signed "Henry"; they include two men on a stone wall picking fruit, and a sailor leaning against a cannon. The insides of the front and back covers, as well as the back cover, are blank. "2.50" (price) is written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover.

One drawing book entitled École de Dessin, No 272, publisher not given, ca. 1850. This French drawing book is comprised of 12 lithograph plates, containing 6 different images, in pairs. Each image appears twice; once in outline form and again in completed form with shading, texture, etc. Two of the plates are labeled. The penultimate plate is printed with the lithographer's name at the bottom: "Lith. de Becquet fres." The front cover is printed on green paper and is decorated with a vignette of two seated girls reading a book, with the title of this book printed on a board at their feet. The book number (272) is stamped in red ink at the bottom. "Sophia Lincoln Gould, from Uncle John, Jan. 1, 1850" is written in ms., in ink, on the front flyleaf.

One drawing/painting book, ca. 1905, entitled Little Folks' Painting and Drawing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York. This book is 32 unnumbered pages in length and is comprised of chromolithograph and black and white lithographs in outline form for coloring. The front cover features an image of two children wrapping a gift box. "0701, McLoughlin Bros. N.Y." is printed in the lower left-hand corner beneath the image. The back cover is not illustrated, but the paper is decorated in a simple pattern. "Directions" are printed on the front pastedown, and the title page is illustrated with a black and white image of a boy painting a fence. All of the illustrations are of animals; some have been colored. A ms. inscription in ink is on the title page. "2.-" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.

One scrapbook created from a completed drawing exercise book entitled American Kindergarten Book for Designing, Drawing and Painting. Volume Third- Polygons, manufactured by Miss E.M. Coe, New York, "Originator of American Kindergarten System", not before 1876. The scrapbook is 24 unnumbered pages in length; the polygon exercises have been drawn and colored in pencil and crayon. Images and poetry, cut out from magazines and newspapers, as well as several chromolithograph images, are mounted to the pages. There is ms. writing in ink and pencil throughout. "John E. Robens, from Cousin Emily" is written in ms., in ink, at the bottom of the front cover. "75 [cents cymbol]" is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover.

One painting book entitled Color Magic, published by Saalfield Publishing Company, Akron, Ohio, 1929. This book is comprised of 44 unnumbered pages of both color and black and white illustrations. Silhouettes against a rainbow of colors are featured on the front cover; the title appears below the illustration. The back cover duplicates the front cover. "No. 207" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The pastedowns are illustrated. "Copyright, 1929, The Saalfield Publishing Co., Akron, Ohio" is printed on the verso of the title page. Page [5] is informational text entitled "How Colors are Made." The remainder of the pages are illustrations, many of which have been colored in with crayon. "From someone that would love to be your Auntie, Mary [?]" is written in ms., in red crayon, on the front flyleaf. "Helen V." is also written on the front flyleaf, in ms.

This book is comprised of 16 unnumbered pages of chromolithograph plates and black and white images for coloring. The front cover is a chromolithograph of two children playing in the snow. "Copyright 1898 by McLoughlin Bros., New York" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The back cover is green and unillustrated. "A few Practical Instructions for Young Painters" is printed on the inside of the front cover. The inside of the back cover is blank. Each of the interior leaves is illustrated; poetic text accompanies each image. All of the black and white images have been colored in with either crayon or watercolor. "Clifford Mattson, Bantam, Conn., Feb. 26, 1903" is written in ms., in ink, in the upper left-hand corner of the front cover. "Gertrude B. Brock" is written in ms., in pencil, across the first page. "5" and "9-" (price) have been written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the first page.
