- The majority of the portrait collection consists of cabinet cards and carte de visite images of various figures including Taylor Bayard (1825-1878), James H. Budd (1851-1908), George Washington Cable (1844-1925), Jane Baillie Welsh Carlyle (1801-1866), Francis Brett Harte (18836-1902), Henrietta Anne (Heathorn) Huxley (1825-1914), Sidney Lanier (1842-1881), Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1846), and Whitelaw Reid (1837-1912).
