A lithograph poster dating approximately from the 1930s of a thematic dietary chart printed by the Institute of Mentalphysics. The poster features a physiognomic circle chart of twenty-one types of human beings and the chemical structure types relating to their scientific elements such as sulphur, potassium, calcium, etc. Text bordering the chart includes excerpts by Edwin J. Dingle and descriptions on the laws of life. Detailed text below the chart describes dietary recommendations based on chemical elements and specific dietary needs. The diet promises to maximize wellness, protect against predisposed physical ailments, and develop principal characteristics related to each chemical structure type. Colorful graphics on the print include illustrations of human profiles and faces, and red watermark logos attribute the print to the Institute of Mentalphysics.

Slate Drawings for the Young Folks

One manufacturer's advertisement/drawing book entitled Slate Drawings for the Young Folks, published by Belding Bros. & Co., Boston, Massachusetts, ca. 1891. This 16-page booklet is a promotional piece for Belding Bros. & Co.'s silk products as well as an instructional aid. Each page contains several white-on-black illustrations, designed to represent chalk drawings on a drawing slate. Above and below each illustrated page are advertising and promotional statements about Belding Brothers & Co.'s silk thread. The front cover is designed to look like a drawing slate, with the text written on the slate. The insides of the front and back covers are advertisements, as is the back cover. "Lillian Wright, Jan. 4, 1891, Ayer, Mass." is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the inside front cover.

Hampshire Job Printing Establishment

A relief print advertising the services of the Hampshire Job Printing Establishment in Northampton, Massachusetts. The showcard is printed by letterpress technique on white-coated cardstock in blue-and-red ink. Item features multiple decorative typefaces and ornamental borders. Text advertises printing services for, "books, pamphlets, catalogues, blanks, bill-heads, shop-bills," and various card formats. The top border is labeled, "Horizontal Card Press Office" and text throughout describes use of a new horizontal card press that can create up to 1000 impressions an hour. Possibly printed by the Hampshire Gazette based on text stating that, "Large additions having been made to the Jobbing material in this establishment, the Printer of the Gazette is now prepared to execute all orders in that department..." The establishment's location is also described as, "Three doors West of Warner's Coffee House," and before moving in 1853, the Gazette Office was located near the Lyman Block and Oliver Warner House.

Three hand-colored lithographs of ornithological illustrations from A Century of Birds from the Himalaya Mountains. Prints include depictions of Vanellus goensis (plate 78), Ibidorhyncha struthersii (plate 79), and Anser indica (plate 80). All illustrations present the birds from a side-profile while posed standing on grassy plains. The birds' feathers, markings, beaks, and legs are colored. All prints include their title in the lower center, with signatures on lower left reading, "Drawn from Nature & on Stone by E. Gould", and lower right reading, "Printed by C. Hullmandel." The print for Anser indica includes text below the title that reads "2/3 Nat. Size," indicating that the other illustrations are life-size depictions of the specimens.

Printing and lithographic establishment: Hunckle & Son
Visual Materials
A color lithographed trade card promoting Hunckel & Son's services within the printing industry through text and illustrated vignettes. Text on top of the image reads "Printing and Lithographic Establishment," and the central image includes two allegorical figures shaking hands above a banner that reads "Hunckel & Son" in gold, with George and Otto Hunckel's signatures below. The center of the card is embossed with the United States seal, and the card is bordered with putti representing the branches of art and science such as lithography, engraving, typography, and photography. The bottom of the card reads "The blessings of the graphic sciences over all the nations of the world," and includes stylistic representations of men in different cultural attire. The border edges of the card are printed in gold.

A business card advertising the Horse Shoe Bar in Texas City, Texas on recto, and an advertisement for a laundress seeking work on verso. Text on recto reads, "'The largest bar in town,' Horse Shoe Bar: Bill & Tillie. No Filipinos or colored served. Taxi service day or night. Phone 173, Texas City, Texas." Recto also includes the emblem for the Galveston Allied Printing Trades Council Union Label in lower center. Text on verso reads, "August I. Mrs. Marshall, Laundress at home, 7 p.m. Work good. First class. Satisfaction guaranteed. Price $2.00."
