Autograph album of Lydia Woodworth chiefly containing blank pages with 10 drawings, 1 handwritten piece of music, and 3 manuscript pieces contributed by her friends including members of the Strong family and Charles Warren Stoddard. Consists of: a poem titled "Madrigal" by Charles Warren Stoddard, 1880; an undated unsigned poem in French beginning "Ah! Mademoiselle Lydie! est a bien vous..."; 1880; pen-and-ink sketch of a woman by Joseph D. Strong, 1880; two pages of music, "To Lydia" with "words by J. E. T." and "music by C. T.", February 1879; three pen-and-ink sketches of a woman by Belle Osborne Strong, 1878 and undated; a pen-and-ink sketch of a figure in Chinese costume with a fan by Jules Tavernier; a watercolor of a misty landscape by J. W. Rix; a watercolor of flowers signed E. Williams; an ink-and-watercolor of a human skull, unsigned; an unfinished watercolor of a woman and flowers, unsigned; and a colored sketch of a flying duck by E. N. [McCoy?] . Also includes a note from Austin Strong, son of Joseph and Belle Strong, dated September 1919, identifying the contents as contributions "all from young artists living in San Francisco in the real Bohemia days." The volume is inscribed "Lydia Woodworth, from her dear Friend Jessie Rand, Dec. 25th, 1876."

Bissell, Eleanor. Autograph album

A one volume guest book, an autograph album, three slides, one piece of correspondence and a college diary are the only items in the collection that specifically pertain to Mary Eleanor Bissell. The remainder of the collection concerns her relatives, the most prominent of whom are her great-grandparents, Eleanor Mills Bissell and Thomas Bissell (fl. 1796-1848). The collection contains around forty pieces of correspondence relating to her great-grandparents as well as over a hundred items relating to the Bissell family business. The business papers include court summons, bills of sale, receipts, promissory notes, quit-claim deeds and an account book, all dated between 1738 and 1836. The collection also contains documents on the genealogy of the Bissell family in Windsor as well as eighteen photographs of family and friends.

Horticultural drawings of camellias
Visual Materials
A set of eight illustrations depicting varieties of camellias in bloom and an accompanying text card. Six of the eight illustrations include either pasted textual descriptions of the flowers on the verso or handwritten notes on the recto. Some of the illustrations are dated and include descriptions for "Camellia Japonica; Christine Lee; Candidissima; Fanny Bolis; and Mathotiana Rubra." The printed text card reads, "Original horticultural drawings made for J. Horace McFarland. 1930-1934. Well known as the 'Rose Doctor,' the great horticulturalist J. Horace McFarland was also responsible for the City Beautiful Movement in America. These drawings are lovely and unique artifacts of his grand enthusiasm for flowers and art." The illustrations are hand colored, done in crayon, pencil, and colored pencil in varying shades of red, white, and pink, with green leaves, yellow stamen, and brown stems. The dates on the individual illustrations range from 1933 to 1935, and do not all match the dates on the accompanying text card. The artist is unknown, but the drawings were likely created as reference or possible publication for J. Horace McFarland.

Benjamin Franklin portraits, 1777-1880: album

This album contains over 100 portraits of Benjamin Franklin. They range in date from 1777 to about 1880 and include engravings, etchings, and other illustrations. The majority of them were acquired in 1907 at the sale of engravings from the collection of Hon. James T. Mitchell, Chief Justice of Pennsylvania (the title page from that sale catalog is included with the volume along with a numbered listing of the illustrations). Fourteen prints were later added to the volume. There is a handwritten note at the beginning of the volume by a J. M. Fox. The note is regarding the contents of the volume and is dated April 1908.

Petra Avila's autograph album

Petra Avila's autograph album, dated 1889 to 1896, contains handwritten notes, poems and drawings by family members and friends, with color decals of love sentiments attached to some pages. The signers added their Los Angeles neighborhoods after their names: Compton, Vernon, Florence, Green Meadows and Tajuata. There are entries by Petra's siblings Ernest, Hernaldo, Anastacio, and Carolina Avila; P. [Pedro?] Lugo; and others with surnames that include Van Dorn, Belieu, Palomares, Schulze, Wright, Redding, Fogal, Rivera, Sanchez, Ochoa, Stoppel, Sawyer and Browning.
